The trip to Kanazawa was gorgeous and really fun.

Micaela from Fall 2014

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

The trip to Kanazawa was gorgeous and really fun.

Why did you select this program?

It seemed the most promising and immersive. Also on a lot of te review sites it was hard to find a low rating for it. Most people absolutely loved their teachers and really learned a lot, so I thought that it would be a good program.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I think the most interesting was when a guest came into the class to talk with the students about certain subjects. It let the students get more of a glimpse into normal Japanese practices and culture, as well as get good listening and talking practice in real time. I can't really think of anything that was uninteresting.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I only went to one but on the Kanazawa trip we got to see a lot of historical places and pretty scenery, which was really the best.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Well for those considering the program of they're thinking about going then it would be a good idea to memorize hiragana and katakana as well as start writing out some kanji before coming. Also if you're deciding between ikebukuro or Kasai dorm really think about which one you want, convenience or space.

Testimonials

In general, I think the KCP program is really great and I’m very glad I decided to do it. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot, met many interesting people from all over the world, and got to have a very different experience of Japan than the normal tourist.
