I loved all the classes and how we learned so much about grammar, kanji, writing, reading, etc.

Michaela from Fall 2023

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I feel like I didn’t get to participate a ton in the events. But I really appreciate how many were offered! I did go to the organ concert that was fun. I wish more events were offered right after school instead of a few hours after (for the morning class)

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Interesting and productive: I loved all the classes and how we learned so much about grammar, kanji, writing, reading, etc. i loved the intensity. Unproductive: I was really disappointed with some of the other students behavior in class and wish that rules were more strictly enforced. So many students had their phones out and it took time away from the lesson because the teacher had to keep calling on them and the student wouldn’t know where in the lesson we were.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

English support session Textbooks Pair work Tests (really motivated me to study!)

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I loved the emergency preparedness museum! It was so fun and a big part of what Japanese people go through with all the natural disasters in Japan. I also enjoyed Kamakura and learning a lot about Japanese history

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

It’s worth it! Do your best to not use your mother tongue the whole time while you’re in Japan. Use Japanese as much as possible and get involved.

Testimonials

Not only did I have a great time at KCP, but the improvement I’ve witnessed in my Japanese proficiency is astounding. I still can’t quite believe I’ve learned so much in such a short time. Although I’m sad that I’m leaving by the end of this term, I’ll always have fond memories of my time here. I am truly grateful to all the staff, especially the instructors, as well as my fellow classmates for making my time here exceptional. I highly and without hesitation recommend KCP International Japanese Language School to anyone looking to learn Japanese.
