A Day at the Tokyo Sky Tower: Genshin Impact Collab Edition Part 2
- Join KCP student Hannah as she shows us around Tokyo Skytree in this 2nd part of her adventure!
Soon, we were ushered to massive Genshin Impact themed elevators that could fit 40 people, at a rate of 600 meters per minute! This means it is the fastest large capacity elevator in Japan. My ears popped as we flew to the observatory level, 350 meters! Once we were at this height, we were rewarded by a panoramic view of Tokyo! We could see landmarks such as the Ferris Wheel in Kasai, where I lived, and the many iconic shrines nearby such as in Asakusa. We took turns trying to point out different iconic sights in Tokyo and talk about everything that we could see.
There was even a section of the floor made entirely of glass for the bravest of visitors to stand on and take pictures of the city below them!
Ready for the full Genshin experience, we paid for tickets that allow access to the 450 meter level, which was entirely dedicated to Genshin. From themed photo ops with characters on all of the walls, to a Field Tiller/Ruin Guard and some Slimes!
Every part of this floor felt like we were in the game. We forgot to make reservations for the character cafe, but we were lucky to grab a spot on the waitlist at 10 am. Although, it wasn’t until 5 hours later that we would finally make it in! Thankfully, the tower does not have a time limit so we were able to hang out in the Skytree and watch the views and shop at the collab store while we waited for a table to become available.
*Pro tip:* Make sure to make reservations early for character cafes, or else you may miss the experience.*
After we took our pictures together, we enjoyed the views from higher up and enjoyed theGenshin atmosphere. Finally, it was time for us to enjoy the cafe! I had the Mora Curry, Yae Miko’s signature smoothie and a delicate Earl Grey tea cake.
By the time we had wrapped up our time at the cafe, the sun had set, allowing us to see a beautiful nightscape over the city. It was a perfect way to end our visit at the Skytree. I ended up revisiting the tower two more times to show other friends and fellow KCP students the unforgettable views that the Skytree has to offer.
The Travel Tips for the Skytree!
- Book tickets in advance to save time and avoid getting caught in the large crowds.
- Plan to explore around the Skytree, there is even a mini mall beneath the tower with many popular stores!
- Make cafe reservations early if you come for a collaboration event, or for the Kirby cafe that is on the ground floor!
