Japan Travelogue Series: Laundry Day

Whenever travelling for an extended length of time, having to do laundry is unavoidable. To overcome the hurdle of excess baggage, sifting through the essentials and minimizing what to bring is always an efficient way to travel. Planning ahead helps a lot. Take into consideration the weather, activities, and list of what you want to see and do. Don’t forget to include laundry day!

Drying laundry

Japan enjoys four seasons in a year, March to May is spring, June to August is summer, September to November is autumn, and December to February is winter. Knowing the type of weather to expect will help you in deciding what type of clothes to bring.

Apartments, houses, dormitories and othe types of accommodations usually have a washing machine or (洗濯機) sentakki often placed in the bathroom and may differ in some aspects from the western kinds. It’s best to familiarize yourself before use.

Join Michelle as she shows what it’s like on laundry day in Japan and how to dry your clothes in a Japanese bathroom!
